Jawara KMA 2012 Dirajai Grup Rock, Era Boyband Berakhir?

SEOUL - Penghargaan Korean Music Awards (KMA) 2012 digelar pada Rabu, 29 Februari kemarin di AX Korea, Seoul, Korea Selatan, justru didominasi band rock indie Jang Kiha and The Faces sebagai pemenang. Selain itu, adapula solois IU, dan Lee Seung Yeol juga jadi jawara di penghargaan bergengsi itu.

Dominasi kemenangan oleh band rock Jang Kiha and The Faces ini jadi semacam antiklimaks euforia boyband dan girlband di Korea Selatan, selama lima tahun terakhir. Para boyband maupun girlband seperti tak berdaya menghadapi musik segar ala Jang Kiha and The Faces.

Jang Kiha and The Faces dimotori oleh Jang Kiha, musisi kelahiran Februari 1982. Dia menggandeng The Faces yang dipersoneli Jung Joong-yub (bass), Lee Min-ki (gitar), Kim Hyun-ho (drum), didukung penari latar dari Mimi Sisters.

Jang Kiha and The Faces melakukan debut pada 2008 dengan menggelontorkan album ‘Cheap Coffe’. Namun grup K-Pop bukan berarti lenyap sama sekali, kelompok 2NE1 dan Infinite masih menunjukkan tajinya di ajang ini.

Pada penghargaan tersebut, Jang Kiha and The Faces berhasil memboyong empat trofi, yakni Album of the Year Award, Musician of the Year Award, Best Rock Song Award, dan Best Rock Album Award.

Sedangkan IU mendapat tiga buah penghargaan, yakni Song of The Year Award dan Best Pop Song Award lewat lagu Good Day serta Choice Best Female Artist Award.
